Sending Files Electronically to Litho Press, Inc.You may send files for a new or existing job to our FTP server. Access to the server is restricted to our clients, and all access requires a username and password. Please review the following. To send files electronically to Litho Press, Inc., you will need the following:

  1. Prepare the files you are sending
  2. An FTP program installed on you computer
  3. A Username and Password to the Litho Press, Inc FTP server
  4. FILES MUST BE COMPRESSED AS ZIP OR STUFFIT TO ENSURE THEY MAKE THE TRIP.
Prepare the files:
It is important we have all the necessary files. If you are sending a QuarkXpress page for example, all the fonts, art, and hires images that are placed in the document are needed (Do not assume we have your fonts - like applications, there may be different revisions of a font which may flow differently).
If these are Macintosh files, you should (Must for fonts) use an application to create BinHex or MacBinary versions of the files - the BinHex or MacBinary version is what you need to send. To create a BinHex versions of files you need one of the following utility programs:
Utility Name License
DropStuff
Shareware
BinHex
Freeware
We suggest before trying to send the files, collect everything you want to send into a single folder (You can have folders within folders). Here are some tips with names to prevent potential problems:
  • Try to avoid long folder or file names, abbreviate (Example: Instead of 'Front inside cover northest edition', use 'Frnt-InCvr-NE')
  • Be sure all files/folder names start with an alphanumeric characters
  • Do not use special characters like ':', '/', and '\' - they may cause problems moving across machine platforms
  • Do not use leading or trailing spaces
An FTP program installed:
To send or receive files to an FTP server, your computer must have an FTP program installed. Like a web browser, the FTP program 'talks' to FTP servers on the internet. FTP programs aren't as sexy and popular as web browsers; therefore, your computer manufacturer probably did not install an FTP program on your system from the factory - and if they did it may be a crude and unfriendly text command line version. Fortunately, there are many - usually free or near free - options:
Platform FTP Program Name License
Mac
Transmit
Shareware
Mac
Fetch
Freeware
Mac
NetFinder
Freeware
Win

ESFTP
